Car cleaning - Autoglym Coat-it

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but couldn't see anything specific for cleaning/detailing.

Has anyone ever used Autoglym Coat-it? Its basically a hydrophobic coating that can be applied directly to a wet car after snow foaming/shampoo. Whilst I love spending time cleaning my car, sometimes it not as easy to justify 4 or 5 hours of thorough cleaning instead of family time etc.. So, I was looking for a sort of quick weekend solution and it seems that Coat-it gets good results. I'd obviously still be polishing, waxing etc.. but snow/foam & coat it for a quick 1 hour wash etc..

It only seems to be available in 5 litres though (maybe more aimed at valeters etc), and there is also another Autoglym product called Polar Seal that looks very similar.

Anyone either of these or an alternative? I've always used lots of Autoglym products but starting moving away for certain things, Poorboys rapid detailer & black hole plus Dodo juice waxes.

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

I use a similar Hybrid Coating by Carbon Collective that does work very well & is available in smaller quantiles.
Have a look at https://www.carboncollective.com/produc ... d-coating/ - checkout its reviews.

I believe coat it is the detailers/trade version of polar seal. It is the same product.
I use Gyeon Wet Coat which I find works well.

Thanks for the responses. I took a punt and got some Auto-glym polar seal (available at Halfords for a tenner ish - 1 litre).

Seems like good stuff. Did a quick snowfoam, then 2 bucket method and finally polar seal. Unfortunately it rained just as I was rinsing it off so didn't get a chance to dry it. I think I might invest in a good water purifier so I can do the final rinse with mega clean water and it won't leave spots. Whether it last weeks or not I'll have to see. I noticed that the instructions for other hydrophobic products it mentions that you can apply it, rinse off excess and reapply then rinse off again for better coverage.

I've used this a few times . I bought it as an inbetween waxing option or if it was too cold too wax or I just couldn't be arsed .
It works really well on lighter coloured cars , the wifes BM is grey and brings it up lovely . Though the 6 is black and it seems too leave it hazy. You may well get different results though so worth a go . It's not the most expensive thing in the world so cant half trying can it .
