Can someone advise on this for me please . Have put down a deposit down subject to viewing ( my insistence ) on a Used approved RS3 at an Audi dealership. The car is a 3.5 hr journey away and has the spec I want but not my first colour choice ( but very close ). I’ve wanted Daytona grey but the cars in the spec I want are few and far between,and even when one does crop up it’s already spoken for or snapped up before it’s advertised . The dealership is saying that the deposit is refundable ONLY if the vehicle is NOT as advertised . Surely they can’t expect people to buy a car without looking at it ?? Are they trying it on ?
Also any tips on negotiating a better deal as they’ve only budged a couple of hundred pounds .

Huh? I'm confused? If you have paid a deposit on the agreement "that the deposit is refundable ONLY if the vehicle is NOT as advertised" and you have negotiated over the phone a couple of hundred pounds, you won't be able to get any more off when you arrive in person? They'll just say no...... I mean, they know you cannot walk, because you have paid a non refundable deposit?

That's how a deposit works.

Sorry should have made myself clear . At first they said it was refundable on subject to viewing . When we started to discuss figures and the deposit was paid they came back with “ not as advertised “. I mean how many times have you heard a vehicle described ( in this case verbally ) as immaculate. Pictures can at the best of times be a bit deceiving . A salesman version of immaculate may be very different to mine or yours .

There are distance selling rules to protect the consumer from exactly this kind of sh!t
