For once ‘Clarkson’ has made a valuable point.
The translation of E-Tron a.k.a. Audi’s fully electric range and to be accurate étron in French is... turd.
That should get a few smiles as you pop out of the tunnel at the English Channel.

Yup, but they still call it the e-tron in France.
Toyota renamed the MR2 to MR in France because MR2 said in French sounds like emmerdeur = pain in the arse.

Of course, not forgetting the Mitsubishi Starion.
So called when a Japanese executive called by phone to tell the US plant managerial team the new car was to be called ‘Stallion’ just like the Ford Mustang. The chap had a rather thick accent and his English wasn’t the best, hence STARION ha-so...
