Price of Parts - Database

Do you there is any need for a "live database" which forum members can update themselves by making a post when certain car parts are cheaper than normal.

For example, I am new to the B7 RS4 gang and often scout ECP, CP4L and various other outlets for bits and bobs I may need but in all honesty, I don't know what is good value and what isn't.

Brakes for example. Front rotors from ECP are about £1,000 each from ECP but there is a 45% coupon... Is this good value?

I know a Flywheel from Rock Auto is the place to go but only because I have trawled the forums for clutch replacement costings.

If someone finds something truly that is good value, stick a link up here and help the community out.

Am I mad, or living in a dream world? Loads of parts are really expensive for these cars, and saving a few hundred here and there would be mega useful.

Happy to be shot down, just my thoughts.

Jamie

It is a good idea, just requires participation and a good leader to drive a resource like this forward. Just having part numbers for often needed items is useful. Unfortunately many owners use social media now, which in my opinion has watered down quality content.

Definitely a good idea - I am on the hunt for front discs and pads!

I agree with Sam - it needs a constant flow and moderation to really be a great resource.

That is very cheap. Well found.

I'm sure this will help someone.

Does anyone on here have the ability to set up a "live" shared worksheet with part numbers, prices and Web links.

It would only need to be for consumables, to stop it getting cumbersome.

I will happily put my hand up to keep an eye on prices and update accordingly.

I bought an exhaust from them for my A3, customer service was pretty bad (part out of stock, not told etc.)but it all sorted in the end
