North coast 500

Post by NeilyRS » Wed Jan 02, 2019 6:55 pm

Hello all and happy new year!

Anyone done the north coast 500?

If so how long did you take, places you stopped at/visited?

Fancy doing it but would be good to get some other peoples experiences of it before booking up

Cheers
Neil

I didn't do the North Coast 500 but did a trip around the highlands last year in April.

Here's the thread I created:

There are some google map links in there that may be useful, I would definitely recommend driving the old Military Road through the middle of the Cairngorms.

I did it in June 2017 . Went round anticlockwise . 5 days . Started of and finished in Inverness . On the way back home detour to Aberdeen to pick something up from a forum member . About 2000 miles and just over £500 in fuel in the RS4 .. Fantastic roads and scenery .

I've done it twice, and a few of the guys off the forum did it last year at the same time as me but the opposite direction. If you want any hints etc, drop me a PM.

I live in Inverness and done it and also done sections and gone home. Highly recommended for roads and scenery. Watch out for the Germans who’ve swapped panzers for campers!

I’m from Forres originally and thinking about doing it next year maybe. How long did it take you if you’re from around there? Could you do it and enjoy it in two days? As in half each day.

Cheers

You could do it in 2 days, but I’d say do it in 3 or 4 and enjoy it! You can blast along some really nice roads and stop of for fantastic food too. Only problem is getting somewhere to stay.

My only thinking is doing it over 2 days is 250 miles or so a day which is hardly a huge task.

I agree, but you better plan your fuel stops! You’ll enjoy it!
Know anyone looking for a 2007 Sprint Blue saloon, 64,300 miles, full service history, standard car. I’ve had it for 9 years and decided it’s time for a change. Going for RS3 saloon.

Not a bad shout there, I have a route but I’ll look into it a bit more in time.

Unfortunately not no, stick a for sale thread up on here and maybe auto trader or the like and see what happens. Or take it through to Aberdeen, plenty of folk with plenty of money through there.
