Getting PPF fitted in Scotland

Post by zappy-chops » Wed Nov 21, 2018 11:31 am

Hi folks, I have a 2017 RS6 Performance in Mythos Black and am looking to get PPF applied and then a good ceramic coating on top. I found these guys in Stirling http://www.ultimateshineautos.com/ and chatted to the fitter. Really seems to know his craft so I got a good feeling and have asked for a formal quote. They use Xpel Ultimate Plus PPF, which having looked around lots of forums is regarded as one of the best products out there (perhaps the best).

Has anyone used this company for PPF and/or ceramic coating? Would love to hear of your experience.

Cheers.

Thanks Michael, but do you mean Incredible Detail (http://www.incredibledetail.co.uk/)? I can't find Ultimate Detail in Hamilton.

Sorry, yes, Incredible Detail!
He can do work in Hamilton. Location not advertised due to the high value cars.

Car goes in on Monday for paint correction, full PPF and ceramic coating. Happy to post progress photos if anyone is interested. The job will take 5 days and I'll ask them to take pics at stages throughout the process.

Cheers.

That's the car dropped off so hopefully pics to follow (assuming he remembers to take them). Decided to go for Xpel's new Fusion ceramic coating on top of the PPF (developed specifically to work with Xpel Ultimate Plus PPF, and also keeps the 10 year PPF guarantee intact) so we'll see how that goes. This will be the first car the detailer has treated with Fusion so fingers are crossed. Saying that, we agreed that if he doesn't or I don't like it they will strip it off and put a Gtechniq coating on instead.

I tried to but he is booked up until beyond Jan 19. Had a good long chat with him and he endorsed Callum at Spotless Detailing in Perth. They did the Xpel training together years ago and keep in touch regularly to share learnings etc. Callum pretty much focuses exclusively on PPF (as Robert does) and employs someone else to do all the detailing work. Feels like I am in good hands. Will find out on Saturday when I collect the car!

Callum wrapped the rear quarter grey then the remainder of the car in matte PPF with some gloss highlights. Been pack a few times to get the ceramic treatment and top up. This was when it was first done with the PPF...

Last day of PPF yesterday and today the ceramic coating goes on top. Decided against Xpel Fusion as it's just too new (nothing written about it, no case studies or reviews) so it will be Gtechniq EXOv4 instead.

Collect the car on Saturday and hopefully will get the winter wheels colour changed and on the car next week too.
