Late 2011 Panamera Turbo S or 2013 RS6, can't decide....

Hi guys.

Long story short, Wife sadly wrote off our 2012 Unicorn spec Cayenne Turbo a month after I bought it in June.

She daily drives my old RS6, I am stuck with the pretty well broken Old Shogun, aka the Dog transporter.

I really liked the look of the high spec Panameras when I was shopping for the Cayenne but resisted the urge to testdrive one. The Cayenne we had, had ungodly handling, the PDCC and Torque Vectoring+ absolutely put the old RS6 to shame. Where we knew the roads/roundabouts, knew the limits of the 6 and would she would be skittering around close to her traction limits, the Cayenne was just grip, grip and a side order of grip with virtually no body roll for good measure, it was utterly baffling and addictive.

The Cayenne was something else to be sitting inside, felt beautifully luxurious, but with logic and function behind everything in there. Yes, too many buttons perhaps but you got used to it and I loved the panoramic roof.

The current RS6 isn't going anywhere anytime soon and that is where the problem lies. I have something in my head that is telling me that it would be stupid to have for the old beast and a C7 on the driveway, that I should have something that it different (well as far as different make etc., you know what I mean)

Just to clarify, I haven't driven either of these yet. I have my eye on a specific Panamera Turbo S for sale and potentially a specific C7 RS6, both at around the 42k mark.

If anyone has any (comical or otherwise) views, I would appreciate them, cheers :).

In my humble opinion of course.....early panameras look like the love child of a 911 and a particularly ugly elephant.

What’s wrong with two RS6’s?

We have several members that have had 2x RS4’s simultaneously, of the same model no less. Surrey Sam and Dougle_Turbo both had 2x B7s.

My vote (in case you couldn’t tell) is for the C7

Not sure if your current RS6 is a C5 or C6 but the C7 is anything unlike what those two are. Having moved straight from the C6 into the C7, the C7 is a revelation in every way. Handling, gearbox, MMI, engine and just the overall ownership experience. And those curved arches! You can never park up and not help looking back at it!

I vote C7.

If it were second gen Panamera then this is where I’d go. First gen is a munter, nice place to sit, but still a munter.

I’d go C7..... but I’d drive them both.

You know my thoughts on this, yes a Pam but never in white. You'll look like a man that has chlamydia and hangs out in swingers clubs.

Dude, I think they look a bit pants in jet black, which is my chosen colour usually and not a mega fan of the bluish either. Can always get the turnip wrapped it it offends meh.

I only like them in full black. In white, it looks like a Beluga.

There was a recent thread about Prestige Cars Kent being a bunch of cowboys- might be worth a read! Comes up on a forum search

Yep, I read the Google reviews of them, very pushey with finance etc and a few other things. Google results here - https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=prestige+cars+kent

Will find the thread on here, cheers forthat. With that said, I gave the plate/VIN details to my guy at Porsche Portsmouth yesterday and she came back as a goodun to them at least on their system. FPSH, no horrors found when last seen, perfect candidate to put on extended warranty after she pased the Porsche inspection of course.

Haven't decided yet guys and spammed Chris on here to see if he can shime in at some point.

Hi matey

Yes I went from a panny to a 63 C7.

The first gen panny looks better in the flesh IMO than in photos....mine was black on black and fully loaded apart from ceramics...it was about 145k new!!

Build quality is next level makes Audi feel dire to be fair....driving position is second to none...as is the way you feel inside the thing.

Some great little design quirks like hydraulic door stops etc...three stage boot spoiler....adjustable air suspension...I always had mine in sports plus at lowest level...my car was also spaced to fill arches.

Handling is unreal for a car of this size and weight...I’m sorry but it makes the C7 feel utter <beep> in the handling department end of story....A C7 would struggle on bendy B roads against one.

Now there was a couple of downsides.....

My car was standard BHP wise but never felt quick enough as daft as that sounds....it’s very civilised and smooth so maybe this makes it feel a little slow?

Exhaust standard was poor even with valves open....I got silencers cut out and it sounded epic then but maybe a little to much for some folk.

Now the elephant in the room.....

I found the much acclaimed PDK box poor....very clunky and slow and my very intuitive at all....was better in sports plus mode but I just never gelled with it.

Plus daft steering wheel paddles are stupid!

The C7 box blows the PDK out of the water IMO

I enjoyed my time with the panny but I would never go back to a gen 1 one....gen 2 deffo though it’s a different league of tech etc

Personally I’d get a C7 and maybe push for a FL one.

Chris
