advice on a new purchase

Folks,
due to kids and houses etc i have been away from fast audis for a while now but in the next few months I might be able to get back into one.
It needs to be a daily and I think around £10k.
I would really love to own an rs.
My previous audis were S3 (old shape) and a B5 and B6 S4.
I see some B7 RS4 around £10k but i know a B5 will be a better investment - however these are all the more rare now and out of my budget i think.
I'd appreciate and advice or help anyone has??
many thanks again

Around £10k for an RS4... are you buying a CAT C/D?

seen a few recently - albeit high mileage - 130/140k at around 11K.

A B7 RS4 in your purchase budget will either be a Cat C/D or a car that has been very poorly looked after and will require a few buckets of RS currency to make it a decent car.
Ps. 1 RS currency = a bag of sand.

where do i need to be realistically then??
13 or 14K?? - or higher?? how hard do i need to save?
I dont mind an early one with a few miles but one that has been cared for.
thanks again

You'd get a decent C5 RS6 for your budget

The range of cars (B7 RS4) available is huge, from 11k up to mid 20s.
Also bear (bare?) in mind it's going to be:-
£500 tax
£500 service
£300-500 insurance
A year just to keep it on the road... So the initial cost is just the start.
Tyres are about £400-500 an axle too.
Brakes are more than double that.
Not a car to buy "top of the range, bottom of the market" IMHO.
