Does anyone know this b7 rs4 avant reg no.......

Post by Liamrs4 » Tue Apr 17, 2018 8:23 am

BP06RMY

Just come into a dealership near me and I'm serious thinking about trading my current a6 in for it. Obviously before I make plans to view and drive it, was wondering if anyone had any previous information about the car.
Thanks.

Hi Liam,

I don't know it, but that's a strong price for that spec.

No carbon interior
No bucket seats, and those seats have had a hard life.
Crap tyres
Exhaust is hanging off by the looks of it, the right side anyway.
Trim on the bottom of both front doors seems to be peeling away, common problem but worth noting. £100 each to replace.
Brake discs don't look great either.

What mechanical work has it had done? Clutch? DRC?
Real name: Simon, or Si, don't mind either

Worth questioning the wheels, to see if they're genuine Audi ones. RS4's never had 20's as an option.

Also see how those front brakes clean up after a test drive, if the outer part of the face still exhibits corrosion, then those callipers are suffering galvanic corrosion and will need a full strip down refurbishment.

Thanks for the replys. I was looking at them discs myself obviously wont be cheap to replace. I thought the price was 1k overpriced and depending on clutch etc could be even more.

Wasn't too fussed on the wingbacks to be honest but may have to go and view the car to see for myself in the next few days.

wingbacks or lack of them dont put the value down-although most folk want them folk like myself hunt around for car with comforts
its the right price for the miles and dealer sale if its good enough-carbon is a much favoured option,to be fair probably not reflective in prices

make sure clutch is good as the dealer will claim its wear and tear

brakes are a haggling point but dont expect the price of a new set off-a fair chunk towards it would be good/fair though-rear brakes seldom discounted so a bigger worry than the front disc price wise, but as said above the calipers can be a pita -especially if pins have seized
drc-known problem area needs careful inspection

as with all rs4 its when you actually have to do anything you find issues with seized pinch bolts, brake caliper pins, nipples strip etc

a good Vagcom scan helps-when car is first started-take note/download clear all then scan/downlad whatever comes back

I would be Suspicious of the Service stamps - 64k miles, 2014. Next service in 2017 - AVS is up to 19k or 2 years depending on driving style. Over 3 years apart and 15k between services seems like a long time.
Also Audi Fleet management, Dealer number 12566 - anyone know what that is ?

Thanks for the info guys. I have no idea what the fleet management number means as well?. It would be a major selling point of it needing a service prior to any se anyway. I'm going to go and view the car tonight or tomorrow have a closer look.

Right, so I went to see this car yesterxay. Bodywork is spot on, no chips scratches etc. Only negative was the drivers side bottom door trim was coming off slightly. Been told this is only £100 or so?
Clutch has been changed at 78k at a cost of £1400.
Front brakes don't look great but there's no lip on them so maybe just a lack of use been in the garage for a while?
Tyres are continental on front and pilot sports on back which probably have a few months left.
No mention of DRC which could be a slight worry.
Got offered a decent deal for my car in of through a friend who knows the owner. Obviously need to test drive it this week to come with a final decision.

I’d be checking the oil cooler pipes, DRC and making sure it has a decent kick at 5k... these cars need a very good service history too... buy the wrong b7 and you could end up putting 5k in easily to put it right.
Also make sure the clutch pedal doesn’t stick, with hard driving.
