Has anyone actually used Tootle?

Post by cuttsy » Sun Feb 04, 2018 7:38 pm

Hi

As the post says "Has anyone actually used Tootle?"

Interested in hearing anyone's experiences. I did put my car on there last year and had lots of interest (15 offers) but the new car fell through. New car is being built this week so need to move my current car on.

TIA

I used it last in 2016 and had an easy transaction - my brother sold his car via it last year.

Yep, used them twice. If nothing more it tells you what your car is worth.

I've had a couple of cars on Tootle, but I managed to sell them direct to dealers for a couple of grand more by stating on my Autotrader advert that I'm open to sensible trade bids.

I used them for my C6 didn’t get any replies at all and sold it private in the end. Not quite sure how it actually works ??

I've listed a couple of cars with them. Same experience both times: after a lot of initial interest the dealers changed their original offers for no reason at all and tried to backtrack on what they said at the outset. I reported them to tootle who investigated and ended up taking both traders off their database for dodgy practices. The service itself seemed good and the staff were very responsive and helpful.

I sold my C6 on it and got the asking price totally hassle free experience.

I've sold twice through them - would use them again.

The only thing I now change is I enter minimal details into the sight - initials rather than full name etc, I had expected they'd mask your details to the dealers, but seemingly they don't. Given how many shady outfits are out there, it's wise to hold back sensitive information otherwise you're broadcasting the location of some usually tasty metal.

I tried Tootle for the first time this week. Disappointing experience. The only offers I had were less than the trade-in value despite me providing all the info and a multitude of photos and scans of history, etc. Seemed like traders just trying their luck for a very cheap car by putting very low offers and short deadlines.

WBAC came in much higher, but I know they would knock off plenty for non-existent damage (because WBAC). Still, I reckon WBAC would be a better bet than Tootle, at least in this case.

I feel like that unless you are going to attempt to sell privately, you might as well just trade it in and save the hassle.

No, Mazda MX-5. I think a C5 RS6 wouldn't be suited to tootle.
