Low mileage, unmolested non-SMG e46 M3. Mine is already worth way more than I paid for it. I suspect the e92 manuals might appreciate, too. They are brutal. Probably only get a ropey one for 16k though.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)

987 Boxster, specifically a Gen 2 (from 2009). Gen 2 solved all the serious engine problems of the 987.

£16-17k will get you a 2.9, £18-20k will get you a 3.4 S.

Great 'weekend toy' cars for the money.

Low spec Evo 8 or 9 for that price, they've started going for silly money now and will only go up

rotboxes though and not got the quality feel of the audi-nothing touches a tweaked evo from a to b though if speed/handling is the main priority
can have fairly short lived running gear[inc engine] if running decent power and can be expensive to run
for an older bloke like myself[having owned more than a few] they have a bit of a chav image though which the rs4/6 seems to avoid

I would probably go for another VX220 turbo, great Cars if you don't mind the badge.
2007 B7 RS4 Saloon, Phantom Black, Forge Oil Cooler Kit, custom home made air feed, H&R Coilovers, H&R anti roll bars, 10mm H&R Spacers, Milltek decat downpipes, Milltek Non Res Valved Exhaust, Reyland Motorsports front & rear discs with Hel braided Hoses, full underbody overhauled inc powdercoated subframes and arms, 034 solid subframe bushes and every joint, arm or bush replaced.
