Does anyone know why they both sound so different?? minus the exhaust, the 8V has a hell of alot more crackles and pops, not to mention the sounds on downshifts! Even the the 8P with all the aftermarket exhausts don't even come close to the stock sports exhaust on the 8V, is it a matter of mapping? because even stage 2/3 8P's don't seem to have the same sound.. any help would be appreciated, deciding on waiting a year or so to wait for the price of a second hand 8V to fall within the 25K mark..or do i just bite the bullet and get an 8P?

The 8P doesn't get that good a write up on a few areas, noise is one of them. i think it's all manufactured that way now, similar to the RS6, R8 and the B9 RS5, all about the crackles on lift.
Have a look at some video reviews on
YouTube (think Chris Harris has one). Personally i would wait for the newer model to depreciate to your liking. If you're financing, check out some independent brokers, they might make a 28k car as affordable as a 25k car...
I'd always hold out for as new as i can get (unless there was a backward step in the range).

Yes, it's all mapped in. MRC and the like offer remaps for the older cars to replicate the noise so maybe watch some of those videos and see I you like it. Not entirely sure if they've done this to an 8P yet
