All shook up lol

had the front arches rolled today, and asked to have a 5mm drop on the front and 15mm on the back as the back sat higher (bilsteins coilovers)

while they were at it they suggested stiffening the shocks as to help against rubbing. This has worked as i didnt rub once on the way home BUT, the ride is far too stiff and i can feel every bump and im shaking up and down.

Am i right in assuming i just need to have the dampers softened a bit to overcome this ?

the front arches were rolled as best they could due to the wings moving too much, so i think that rubbing has been overcome, on the rear they said that im not actually hitting the arch due to slightly stretched tyres, im only occasionally hitting the inner carpet / liner and they said thats not really an issue as it will gradually wear and stop.

So maybe it will be ok to soften the dampers as its not a joy to drive like it is.

ok not sure whats going on here, as a new owner i just came here to ask for advice and get pointed in the right direction, as a builder if anyone asks me for help or advice i happily give it, so on the assumption some of you have an issue with me then firstly why bother reading my posts and secondly i would so love those of you who have an issue to meet me face to face.

If this isnt a site to ask for help and advice then whats the point in the site in the first place ? i am pretty sure you all have had to ask something at some point on this site and been helped by others, yes i ask alot of questions WHY? because ive been a bmw man for many years and can tell you anything you want to know regards m3's, but rs4 no, and the only way to learn is to ask, why some of you have an issue with that is beyond me but its cool, maybe those of you who are half decent will advise as you do often and those who dont like my posts go read someone elses,

brave when not face to face eh? what i love is if only you knew me you wouldn't be so fuking cocky

Blimey. No need to get so defensive fella - a light ribbing is par for the course round here.

Yes. If adjusting the dampers harder has made the ride too hard - adjust them softer again.

OP. To help you here. Mikefish's request of a picture was more than likely to show him anything he might pick up on and advise. Mike is one of the go to guys on here regards B7. Whilst bam on the other hand is quite the Dickhead ( in a good way) but adds a lot of banter and humour which most forums require to remain interesting. My suggestion to you is have a beer and a chill pill and try not to take things to seriously. :thumb:

I suggest you come for the next forum meet/outing so we can all put "name to a face" sort of speak.
It's a lot easier to ask questions face to face. At least there aren't any forum rules ;)
And to answer your earlier question, yes soften the damping settings, this should cure the problem.

I wasn't asking to help with advice; softening the dampers will clearly soften the ride, same as it would on any car. I was asking cos I like seeing photos of RSs and we've been reading about your wheel and stance and ride height and rolled arch woes, then you go and have some work done and don't show us what it looks lile.

1. As in, Rule #1 - photos or it doesn't exist. There's no point explaining something unless there are photos. This is the Internet, words mean nothing, just give us photos.

2. If you're having grievances with what you read on the Internet, the solution is not to call a face-to-face meeting. If you believe it to be the solution everytime you get some butthurt, then you're a caveman and you've completely missed the point of 21st century communication, the Internet and forums. So, please, drop the "you wouldn't say that to my face" routine.

3. We are not on a building forum and while it's commendable that you'd freely offer your building advice, if we so asked, we haven't asked, so I find your point on this matter perplexing.

4. We have no issue with you. Questions are the life-blood of this forum but sometimes it gets very dry, hence the banter and odd humour.

5. You've posted something on a publicly open forum, you can't control who reads the post, nor can you control who replys to your post. You post it, it's fair game. But don't worry, this forum is very good at sorting itself out and policing dickheads (me included), so you won't be picked on if you're a decent person. While you are getting used to this forum, it is being used to you.

6. My bravado has no correlation to the proximity of your face. I have a very relaxed social filter, I'd be just as 'cocky' in person, which begs the question; would you still want to met me face-to-face? It's a real conundrum, I mean, you've said that I wouldn't be so 'cocky' when face-to-face, yet I've assured you that I would be. I'm amused at the thought of what would happen, what would we talk about?

7. Set your Billies (coilovers) to the fourth 'click' - also, did you replace the top mounts?
