Radio code - RNSE

A friend of mine has just acquired a 62 plate S3, which was delivered via his local Audi centre from somewhere else in the UK network.

For some reason the RNSE was asking for its PIN - something not disclosed before collection or noticed at handover.

The Audi centre are not being particularly helpful - the sales man saying he has been ill and unable to get the code..

Is there a simple way of getting the pin by giving the VIN number of the car and the serial number of Head unit? Or should he consider rejecting the car?

Thanks in advance.

If he has purchased the car through an Audi main dealership, then that is very poor. The Audi technician should have noticed and rectified this, as there are a few areas on the 145 point approved used checklist where this should have been picked up.

Has your friend checked the RNSE user manual? The serial number should be on the printed card and often the pin number too - if the cars original pre-delivery inspection has been carried out properly.

Failing that, the selling dealership might be able to provide the pin remotely, if you can provide the RNSe serial number. Ultimately they must resolve it for your friend.

Thank you Sam, that is very helpful.

There was no printed card in the handbook, so I can only assume this is not the original unit.

I have offered the set of removal keys that i have to get the unit out and get the serial number.

Have a good xmas.
