No idea if Cost Price + £1 results in a sensible price or another stealer rip-off. Sometimes however on winter wheel packages they can be surprisingly cheap.

Lol. I only asked as in the UK winter tyres are pointless. If you was in Canada or somewhere there is a lot of snow then it would make sense.

Actually, winter tyres are far from useless. I've run them for the last three years through our UK winters and they perform better than my Summer tyres (GY F1's, PS3's, MPSS's) did in those conditions. They're not just designed for driving on snow.

I agree (obviously).

Global warming has given us a few warmer winters but 600 bhp is easier at 3 degrees C on winter rubber for sure. Snow would be a bonus and a lot of fun but when the kids are in the back winter rubber makes life more relaxing.

To be fair when you shell out £3k ish and then it doesn't snow for a single day you do feel like a little bit of a bell-end.

Depending on the car you are referring to ? Audi some times offer a really good deal on winter wheel packages last year it was A1 wheels and tyres £395 all in. They had a massive surplus !!!! Now back up to nearly £800. I find the cheapest way is just change the tyres on my C6 I just changed the tyres and put the summers in the shed.
They do make a difference at lower temps on shitty wet roads even without snow and tbh if it's real proper snow you need more than just winters

In my experience driving up the mountain to La Plagne with the French Police stopping everyone without chains or socks on, except for me in my RS4 B7, they looked at me and waived me on ploughing up the mountain in my summer tyres no problem. Of course I don't drive like a <beep> in snow, I take it easy. The key to driving in the snow is having good tread. The amount of nob end I've seen who cant even get up a snowy hill either have no tread or drive an C63 AMG mapped by Dougal. Winter tyres are a waste of money in this country. As when it snows in the UK the whole flucking country comes to a stand still anyway. And its time for the pub

The difference is night and day. The Scandinavians have a saying ‘Winter tyres first, four-wheel drive second.'

Si, winter tyres (not talking about studded tyres or snow chains) will out grip summer tyres from around 5-7 degrees and downwards. So at this time of year they will be more useful than your Michelin Pilots or Eagle F1s.
