Audi Sport declares RS range set to double

Post by stevo55 » Fri Nov 11, 2016 4:49 pm

Is this a good thing in competing with M and AMG or will this water down the brand too much?

The brand is already watered down. I guess at this point, the dam has already burst, do they'll just be surfing the wave.

It annoys me, but does it really matter? If it's a good car, it's a good car. No one who knows about cars is going to be impressed by a RS Q7 or a Diesel RS7. In the same way we laugh at people with M-diesels.

The danger is that they don't put any effort into RS models. I guess that was a big criticism of the RS3: nothing special over the A3. Perhaps we'll see more of that.

AMG has started cashing in some of its brand rep. Look at the A45. The problem is, I don't think Audi have got it consistently right to have that much reputation to cash in on.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Audi's RS reputation is ballistically fast in a straight line with bland dynamics

It attracts alot of people who want to willy wave down the pub, but wouodnt go for a 6am blast to North Wales.

B7 and mk1 R8 are thr only drivers cars ever to come out of quattro GmbH

Just read the article on PH. That's pretty depressing given that the brand has already been watered down to, err, water.

More models means less r&d for an individual model, so definitely moving towards ALDI now.

When you see an RS8 you'll know for sure it's gone to hell in a handcart! :FIREdevil:

I own a B7 and wouldn't say their a drivers car . it does everything for you and feels a bit bland . I would have been really disappointed if I bought one from new .

My opinion of course .

I own a C6 RS6 and it's probably the most accomplished and luxurious car I've ever owned. I came from 18 years of BMW's and loved them all-I still do (and every other great car I've driven). People talk about 'understeer' and 'lack of steering feel', to which the answer is 'guilty as charged'. BUT it has tons of character and the fact that you can drive it progressively in any weather (where all the powerful rwd cars are just struggling and can't put any meaningful power down) plus the engine note (albeit with help from milltek), a legendary engine and a knockout punch means that (for now at least) I love it to bits! A bit more mpg would be nice though....
