Replacing grill on RS4?

Post by electricfurnace » Mon Nov 07, 2016 10:55 pm

Hello
Want to swap out my black grill for an OEM silver one.

Does the front numper have to be removed in order to do so?

Any guides around?

Thanks
Alex

It might help if you post in the right forum so we know which RS4 you have, or at least tell us. However, I'm going to guess you mean the B7? If so, then yes I'm afraid it is a bumper off job. I don't think we have a guide for it in the how to sticky section on here but when I did it I found a good guide on Google. I don't think it is very different to removing an A4 bumper too so an A4 guide may help too. Essentially you need to take the front wheels off, remove the front wheel arch liner ( or at least undo parts of it to get access to the bolts holding the bumper on as well as a couple near the headlights I think then pull the bumper off. Remember to have something soft to rest the bumper on as when you remove it, it will still be attached because of sensor wires, fog light wires, headlight washer fluid hose etc.

Actually you don't need to take the wheels off. You can do a full lock on each side and just unscrew a few liner screws so you can peel it back enough. You will need 10mm socket for 2 bolts inside the arch. You will need a very long extension (or flex) and a swivel joint. Than its 3 screws above radiator. And a few underneath attached to undertray. With enough practice bumper off job becomes as routine as checking oil level. BUT seriously!!!!! Where were you 4 month ago when I was ambitiously asking if anyone wants to swap their black for my oem silver. ??? Lol was even offering to do a swap myself so you would not need to get dirty ha ha

Have a look at the cambelt DIY in the RS6 C5 FAQ section. It's pretty much the same procedure.
