HELP MMI failed Audi want £4000 to fix

Post by ollys » Tue Oct 11, 2016 6:54 pm

I have an C6 A6 avant 2010. It has bose, MMI 3G High, HDD NAV, advanced key etc etc.

My daughter was sick on the back seat a week ago. Got the car valeted inside and out. the next day the MMI was playing up - no sound from anything, Radio would only find the FM channel (no sound), phone wouldn't connect, sat nav seemed to work but no sound and none of the steering wheel functions would work.

Tried to hard reset the MMI by pressing the setup, centre and top right buttons, but that only resulted in the start up screen appearing and then dying instantly when you turn the unit on - that's the state of play now.

Just been to my local audi garage who say the main MMI unit needs replacing at a cost of £2600 plus VAT plus labour = £4k. They say there is no communication with it. Part number is 4E0035670CX. The main unit is located in the glove box.

Can anyone help with this? I can't believe the the valeting and the failure are not connected. Isn't there a bluetooth module near the passenger footwell? Could it be the bluetooth module instead? Ive seen a main MMI module for sale on German eBay from a 2009 allroad for 670 Euro which is more stomach-able but is it simple to fit? Can anyone point me in the direction of a reliable second opinion - are hazy days any good?

Many thanks

Olly

Oh I forgot - to cap it all - the glovebox is now rattling like a m'fooker since picking the car up - I know they checked the connections at the back of the unit and obviously haven't replaced everything correctly... thanks AUDI :bash: :audibash:

Post your location. Wouldn't spend £4k without running VCDS first!

We know what stealers are like! :audibash:

Try this guys

http://www.f-knaviexpert.co.uk/contact/

He's my M8 and he's really good with the Audi equipment. Last time he saved a friend of mine nearly 3k - His Bose system stopped working properly in new A8. Audi said he's got the wrong unit mounted in there - even though it was working perfectly before - and said they can order the correct one, obviously for a price of around 3k. Fabian (the name of the guy) just reloaded some bose config and settings and all was working again.

Really knows his stuff and should be even able to source the unit if needed.

You can mention that Viper (David) from Amersham sent you ;)

The name is just a coincidence - I'm not the VIPER that does the Audi tuning ;)

Whereabouts is the MMI stuff situated? Have the valeters wetted the carpets to clean all the sick out? - some water could be lurking in the footwells causing havoc with the electrics.
