This from a friend of mine who know's the chap who hit the barrier in the first instance.
A British guy (who we know) had an off up Kesselchen (not big). Finished his lap and reported it to the marshals, 2 marshals took him to the scene to inspect the barrier damage. From what we have heard all 3 were standing after Kesselchen on the inside of the Armco (with the vehicle parked up) on a live track with no flags before the corner to warn other drivers. The civic came around the corner (young male and female French occupants), lost control and ploughed through the 3 people and into the stationary marshals car. Both occupants were killed immediately, the 2 marshals are in critical condition in Koblenz military hospital, and the British driver somehow escaped with some minor injuries........ The incident was totally avoidable and I am absolutely gutted, the ring has lost its magic for a lot of people today!!!

I saw this too. Terrible news and probably one of the fastest parts.
RIP to the civic occupants and all my wishes to the marshals. I've had a few dealings with them (only once with my accident thankfully) and they're absolutely amazing. Calm and caring. Genuinely care for welfare. And want to get things right. My thoughts are with them.
