Tinted Number Plates

To you guys with tinted plates - does you find they cause any unnecessary attention from the plod? Can you pass an MOT with them on?
I've had German plates in the past and was stopped a couple of times, with one fine. I went with pressed plates in UK font on the RS, but tinted plates on a black car look pretty good.

Faisal... you've seen mine... not had any attention from the plod but it's not MOT compliant. Looks good though lol

Hey mate, yeah seeing your cars is what got me thinking about this!
Where did you get yours from? Seen some ebay sellers but the plates they're selling look as if they might be too dark.
I don't mind swapping for MOT time.
