996 stereo amp

Hi Guys,

Anyone good with car stereo setups? I've replaced the head unit in my porsche for a car play one, great functionality, <beep> sound basically!

This is because I've got the MOST amp setup, it's bypassing the original bose amp. So I need to replace the amp.

Any recommendations on setup? I'm going to try and keep the original speakers, they've never been that bad but the front tweeters might get chopped for something slightly better.

I think... The rear speakers are 2ohm each. The fronts are 1ohm and tweeters are 1ohm, was going to serialise the front and tweeter so 2ohm, do I need to consider cross overs for these? The bass setup is two 1 ohm speakers on parallel, I think I'll need to serialise them to get them to 2ohms.

So I'm guessing I need a small (Bose amp is pretty small in size) 5 channel amp. But really I'm pretty new to this!

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Alex

Where in the country are you based Alex? I can recommend a good installer near me (I'm in Surrey).

I have a JL XD amp; nice and compact range. My 3 channel XD fits in my RS4 wheel well with a minimal amount of foam cutout.

They look really nice, pretty reasonable too!

I'm in Herts, the cars with the detailers at the moment but when back I was thinking of giving it a go myself.

How do you deal with just 3 channels? Is that front left and right; then rear together?

Rears disconnected. I don't see the need for the rear speakers, I prefer the sound coming from in front of me. I upgraded the front components to focals, and put a JL 10" sub in a stealth box in the boot. None of the kit is particularly pricey, but it sound far better than the standard system in a B7!
