'Ring advice

Morning all

I happen to be passing by the ring on the way from hols in a couple of weeks

I've never done it and want to do it as a treat having recently had my 40th

Although we will be there in the Porsche, my mrs isn't happy about me taking her car around which I sort of understand and respect

That leaves me with the option of hiring something.

Been in touch with RSR (have seen them loads of times at spa and their cars look well kept etc) so thinking of using them unless anybody knows better option.

Also wondering what to hire so looking for opinion. Doesn't necessarily seem worth hiring something mega for my first drive there so thinking Clio/megan or at a push maybe a 135i.

Any advice ?

I know many of you go/have been (DK!?!?) so looking for some guidance

Many thanks.

Hire a Swift front Rent4Ring

That's all you need for your first visit

And being handy on track will mean you can get the best out of them

After about 20-30laps in a Swift I'd upgrade to something quicker

They are slow on the straights but are ridonkulous in the corners so all about the momentum and grip

This.

Swifts can lap in low 8 minutes. Once you're lapping sub 9 minutes in a swift then you probably need more power. Until then, the swift is epic. I've rented one for a day before and it's amazing. Grip levels and brakes are staggering.

For your first laps you don't need anything else. Spending more is a pure waste.

When you there? I think there's a few weekends covered by some of us coming up. I'm there last weekend in September, some others are there the weekend before the 14th sept.
