Radar/Laser Detector recommendation, please :)

Guys,
Looking for a laser & radar detector - if it also had fixed camera locations that would be nice but not essential. Anyone own one and can give a recommendation?
Many thanks - not looking to spend a fortune - Tim

Radar laser detectors are a fallacy. If it's beeping you have been caught anyway. It's either a gps based system with 'high risk zones', which I have rarely found to be correct with my Snooper, or a laser jammer. I have toyed with the laser jammer idea for ages, but if you get caught with it you will be in more sh*t than just taking the speeding ticket.

I have used a road angel on and off for a while but you end up just ignoring the fixed camera alerts as the warning goes off so often! and as said if it gives you a speed gun alert by the time you realise what is going on the officer will be waving you into the side of the road!
Very useful for accurate top speed runs though!

Just buy a car from one our Easter European friends with matching plates from his country. Then drive as fast as you like. Make sue your girlfriend/wife wears a leopard skin shell suit too.
Coventry's a wonderful place.
Seriously though, this one looks the best. Bloody expensive though:

I use a tom tom app on my phone for mobile and fixed cameras
It's not, obviously, the highest tech, but it's updated as it goes, so you get the latest spots and a distance count down for mobile cameras and it plays the warnings through your speakers via the bluetooth connection of your iPhone
Like said above, laser warnings are generally too late, so they only serve the purpose to have the old bill catching you looking confused at a beeping box on your dash as they pull you into a lay-by and have your pants down..

You could always look at the Stinger range of detector's.These are big bucks and if caught using the radar diffuser you will most probably kiss good bye to your car and license...but only if you get caught !!!!!

The jammers are normally classed as "garage door automation devices". There was a case of a guy who was caught, denied it was a hammer, showed the police it was a garage door thingy, went to caught and exhibit one was a picture of his terrace house and the deeds showing he didn't have a garage...

Sorry only just seen this.
Tetra will be given an extension (as there is no replacement AT ALL, not even in principle testing - hell, the new standard hasn't even been decided yet). So whilst the new standards should be along in 18 months time or so, Tetra's replacement certainly wont be for AT LEAST 3 years, and probably more likely 4-5 years.

Ross you are spot on with this info - i was wondering however, do the camera vans use tetra? What is the best way to make sure you comply with the law? Camera app on phone plus tetra?
