Tracker phone call

Just rang Tracker up about swopping details now im the new owner of my Rs4 b7 old owner paid £399.00 for full subscription,they informed me that its an old system (FITTED AUG 07)and that it needs a new one fitted £250.00 and £149.00 yearly or another £399.00 full subscription feel like they are trying to have my pants down, if anything had happened to the car and the old owner would have rang them would they have told him it was not working anymore due to it being an older system.Anybody else had tracker confusion #ripoff?
