Garage flooring

Hi All,

Got a wooden double garage coming soon and trying to plan the floor out. It's on a concrete base and the garage itself is only going to be there for 3 years.

So flooring... Any recommendations. Don't really want to spend a fortune, just something comfortable compared to raw concrete!

Cheers

Alex

Hi, what type of flooring are you after, do you want a smooth finish on top of the existing concrete if so there is a product called Ardex K80 which is a self levelling compound when mixed with water, can be used upto 20mm thickness, generally a grey colour but it can be painted.
You could also use Hydrocrete Resin compound which is mixed then trowel layed to a smooth finish best used upto 10mm thick. Both products are extremely hard wearing and withstand heavy traffic movements such as forklifts.
Alternative there are floor paints that you can use specifically designed for concrete garage floors.
Hope this helps Nick.

Hadn't even thought about self levelling compounds. I was looking at the rubber/pvc tiles or matting!

That would also help seal the base to the concrete! Added bonus.

I had this dilemma when I rebuilt my garage. I painted the concrete first but it never dried properly!! So I did this:

They are a hard rubber/plastic tile that interlock. Very hard wearing, but not cheap. My 5.5m x 3.6m garage cost around £500. But will last a long time, and if I ever move I can just take lift it up and take it with me!!

That was what o was think, because the plan is to dig a garage under the sideway and put a living room on top, but money means that has to wait three years. So if I got these, Id simply pull them up and put them back down in the new new garage!

But... If scree is cheap, I might just do that!

That floor looks fantastic though!

Be careful with some supposed garage floor paints! I went through some quite expensive lessons on my 5.5 x 6.5 metre area. Might seem fine and dry but once hottyres are parked on it, it then lifts with the tyre and ruins the floor. I ended up laying interlocking tiles over the top in the end.

Top man! I had the model before that as a support phone, hours of waiting on conference calls trying to avoid the walls!
