Anyone done this? Any advice? I'm thinking I fancy one of these now so would appreciate your advice re what model et. Only got £40k.
Seems to be a common misunderstanding about the running costs & selling quickly. I still knock about with the same GT-R owners i knew when i had mine 3 yrs ago & many still own their's. I kept mine for nearly 18mths & loved it. Only sold as my monthly mileage was creeping up & i wanted something a touch more pleasant on long journeys.Rick_RS4 wrote:urgh. quick car etc but switches from a washing machine and running costs of a 747
so many people buy and sell so quick also? so something doesnt add up

Running costs are in line with any weighty performance car & no more than say an RS or an M. Early cars needed 6k services which was a stretch but later cars it's every 9k
18mths is a long ownership for me:) The GT-R is far more than good pub ammo & is a genuine Supercar slayer which no RS/AMG or M can ever claim to be. Most GT-R critics have never driven one & certainly never owned one & those that have & are still critical usually bought it as the 'the must have motor' but couldn't get to grips with the car so moved it on. I was out with a bunch of GT-R owners last night & several of them still have an original MY09.Rick_RS4 wrote:W8PMC wrote:I kept mine for nearly 18mths & loved it. 18 months isnt a long ownership, the skyline is good pub ammo and all that but not a daily as you have said above
ok audi isnt on the same level as performance but you can get in and drive it no tears, then give it some stick when you want.
i would rather have a charged rs than a fast glorified washing machine,
sorry
Please tell me it's not a soft top? Took a brand new RS5 Cab out on an extended drive a couple of weeks back & quite possibly the worst handling & least comfortable car i've ever drivenRIV wrote:I've been in firestarters GTR.it's mental!!
I've also been in Kim Collins rs5 with the pes kit
That to me is better

I find your comment 'fast glorified washing machine' interesting, but again i can only assume you've never owned one. A bit rough round the edges? yes, glorified? certainly not. Can accept they're not to everyones taste, however even that's limited as have never owned or been in a car that got as much positive attention & feedback as my GT-R. That too can become tiresome when in a rush & virtually everyone wants you to floor it at every opportunity:)
As a daily driver they're fine but for high mileage use they do become a bit tiresome & depending on what pipes are fitted, motorway cruise speeds can be a tad noisy. The costly aspect is due to consumables if doing big miles, however the same would apply to most M/RS's (although granted they're more comfortable).
I too prefer an all rounder but if you took a poll then the GT-R would win all day long as the preferred car (for most people) & is a car that every petrol head should own at some point as they're that good & an outstanding feet of engineering.
It's not really about the 5 it's what the pes kit does to transform the package, it's impressive refined big power, for me I would rather have my rs4 charged than having a GTR!! it offers me more as a family rocket, and looks so much betterThe 5 for me is just plain...I've tried to like them, I really have, but no joy. Me thinks I need to test drive a GT-R. Saying that, have fallen back in love with the C6 - dunno why, just loving it again at the mo.
