Anyone got an RS and and M3? If so, what differences do you like between them?

Both are fab in their own way.

Totally agree. Had an E46 M3 before the RS6 and they're completely different animals. Both very good at what they do, though.

I now have both and although I love the M3 as well, is it just me being spoilt with an RS or are the M's actually quite slow - obv not technically, I know they're deemed quick, but it's nothing in comparison.

I have a E92 M3 just now and I am thinking of changing it for a new RS4 avant.
I was wondering exactly the same thing how do the two compare?
I have read lots of road tests and reading between the lines the Audi sounds like a bit of a beast compared to the Bm!!!

My business partner has one of the run out model limited edition ones in that horrible flat blue colour.
He uses it every day and I have to say if it wasn't for the garish colour it would blend in with every other M3 out there.
It goes well I have to say, but only when its dry, it spins up constantly, when I'm totally on it, committed even in mildly damp conditions, he's tentatively approaching a corner wondering if he's going to have to catch it stepping out.
Point to point, a touch quicker the my B7, in the dry only if he launches well, a better driver may do a better job than me though.
In the wet completely different story - in the snow, I could run faster!

I have to add, for the price difference I'd have a B7 or any other Audi RS over one any day - inside the M3 is quite frankly poverty spec compared to a B7, against a B8 interior its embarrassing, the seats are awful and the dash is like looking at a solid piece of black plastic, just like every other model Beemer - no thought what so ever.

Totally agree re interior. All bm's look the same inside.
I was just a little surprised how 'slow' it felt...it's obv not but in comparison. Don't get me wrong, I didn't buy it for speed or think it'll be faster - I brought it for looks so I'm not disappointed in it in anyway...but as a kid, M3's were soooo fast...

I went from B7 to E92 M3 (now in C63 AMG) - M3 felt quicker than my B7 , especially with the DCT gearbox helping you along. Also made more power on Surrey Rolling Road (B7 380 M3 416) - but then I assume you are talking about the new B8 RS4 - of course then its a whole new ball game as the e9x M3 is now old model and discontinued ahead of the new model coming June 2014 which will be a fairer comparison (if you an compare saloon/coupe with an Avant). There are a few threads on here from a few owners who swapped from RS to M3 and visa versa but I don't know many who went from M3 to the B8.
Both great cars.

I own a DCT M3 and it is a great car .......in the dry
IN the wet or 90% of the time up here you are left guessing if its going to get round corners without the back end coming round to meet you.
I had originally considered the RS4 but now I am contemplating the S4 too as the supercharged engine appeals to me.
A bit of computer wizardry and you are up to RS4 power levels
