A man caught driving at speeds of up to 165mph on the M57 motorway on Merseyside has been banned.

Shiad Mahmoon, 23, was in an Audi when he was followed by a police helicopter at 05:00 BST in June 2011.

Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard he was eventually pulled over by officers on the M62 motorway.

Wasnt the previous top speed record, also in an Audi a few years back?

Supposedly the top was the 180mph set by the getaway driver in an RS5 but that was not a gunned speed and may have some press poetic licence.

Fastest Car was Timothy Brady who was clocked at 172mph in a Porsche 911 Turbo it was a hire car so had to be expected.
