Swapping tyres around from front to back etc

Morning all

I'm just keeping an eye on my tread depths and it would seem that the front tyres are wearing quicker than the rears which I guess is to be expected.

Having come from a line of BMWs recently with a staggered set up, what are the thoughts of swapping back to for to even out the wear on my B8 RS4?

Like Brooner I'm hoping that Michelin release the super sports in our size soon so want to make these last as long as possible and driving like a nun is not an option!!!

I used to swap wheels around in my B7, no dramas, should be ok on the B8, you may have to re-sync the tpms if wheels lose connection.

Given the RS4 is perm 4wd then it's pretty much essential to keep all four wheels relatively evenly worn.

6 mm isnt going to make much difference, not saying I dont swap them tho.

Doing some rough arthur...
255x35R19 has a circumference of about 2016mm
Worn by 6mm is 1978mm
1609344mm in a mile
so the new tyre rotate 798 times and the worn 813... So 15 revs per mile.
At best that'll increase tyre wear and worst it'll start wearing the centre diff (depends largely on what kind of tyres you've got).
Given how easy it is to rotate the tyres I don't see why people wouldn't?

No - I find tyres wear and perform better if the direction is maintained.
If you have a significant difference left to right then I would say there is a suspension or setup issue

I got increased wear on the front on my old B7, I suspect, simply due to the way the car has a tendency for initial under steer when you first turn in. I used to swap them around at about 5-7k miles (I'd get 10-12 out of a set of michelins) to balance things out
I'm certainly going to be doing it with my B8 too as the car's always going to respond better with evenly worn tyres
I'm sure you already know this, but just make sure you re-adjust front/rear pressures and reset TPMS
