Just sent my wheels off to be refurbed, wondering what advice and products guys are using and feel make less hassle to clean and preserve/seal rims.

I banged some chemical guys wheel guard on mine, including the calipers. Saw this weird build up on them today though, hope it washes off! Car hasn't been cleaned in about. 1,000 miles.

Yes, stay away from kerbs!

Also, if they are being powder coated, stay away from acid wheels cleaners.

Lol Honestly not kerbed any for many years

fair point on acid cleaner tbh I just use normal car wash, just these rims are BBS and little more time needed to clean over OEM , so looking for a good protecter/sealer really to stop the crap sticking . I did buy a wheel cleaner today will check whats in it and not certain if rims been powder or sprayed

Check with whoever is doing the refurb on how long you have to wait before sealing them. Think if they are painted then you have to wait for them to cure, not 100% sure though.

In the past i have put a few layers of Super resin polish topped with a few coats of Poorboys.

Got my refurbished winters layed out in the breakfast room, two coats (and counting) of Poorboys wheel seatant on top of SRP. They look real glossy, going to put at least one more layer on, will take some pics

I didn't fancy putting them on the tiles in the kitchen! Plus a lot more comfortable when sitting on the floor!

Cheers, i have some super resin is this poor boys sealant like a wax then ? and where should i buy from ?

i did not know where the cleaning section was on here.. but have found now (could Mr T be so kind and move this thread)

Poorboys Wheel Sealant is like a wax paste, apply with a foam applicator, leave for a few minutes, buff with a microfibre. I always use and can recommend Alex at Elite Car Care, excellent service

One product needed, G-Techniq C5. Way outlasts Poorboys and everything else I have used (Rim Wax, AG SRP/EGP or AWS, Jetseal 109 CG Wheel guard etc etc), simple application, best to put on straight away once you have your wheels back. Lasted about six months on the RS4, all you need to clean them is normal car shampoo as you would used on the bodyworka dnalways come up a treat. May look pricey but is worth every penny.

That is the problem with Poorboys, it really doesn't last that long.

Just looked at the G-Techniq C5 size/cost about £25 for 15ml, my question is does the 15ml do 4 rims ?
