Hmmm, you both make a fair point. I an on seloc.org now but had somehow missed the wiki. I've emails Will Blackham and asked him to maybe look out for a 111R in white/black. I'm not too hung up on accessories as I'll quickly mod. The knowledge you guys have is invaluable, thank you both.

I just don't really understand having an RS4 for summer use and then wanting a car like an Elise with aircon. Electric windows. Airbags. Etc. When even a standard Elise is 200kg heavier than it needs to be.
Murph - valid point.

I have a plan, and it's not a particularly good one. The RS4 will become my winter car - I got caught out this winter without 4WD, Passats do not like the snow, no.

An Elise then will be a summer car - swap them over with the storage company in May and October - done. Whilst one is being driven the other is getting mods and a clean.

Or I could buy a Cayman S for the same money as Elise + RS4 but I'd be bored and it would be normal and it's what an estate agent would drive.

So I guess I'm looking for an S2 111R without the touring pack - does it really save 200 kgs, that seems steep?
Sorry Tim, my "200kg" comment was just a Caterham owner pulling the leg of the Elise boys :) An Elise is ~700kg, a 7 ~500kg...

Once you start driving lightweight cars you see what all the fuss is about with sports cars.

Elises are lovely cars, and as your plan is to make one an everyday summer car it'd a good option IMO.

Don't be unduly scared off by the K series though. They are old but good engines with a lot of knowledge out there and "cheap" parts. They really were ahead of the game as an engine when they came out. My 200bhp is very tractable. Only spits flame on the over run because I asked for it in the map :)

A good way I like to think of Elise/caterham type cars.
An Elise is a road car that is also a track car.
A caterham is track car that is also a road car.

As above with the K - don't be scared. HGF's on the s2 are co sibersy rarer and more the excrption than the rule.
Plenty of parts and knowledge about.

Hah - it's a shame 'ronin' doesn't post on there any more (threw toys out of his pram and deleted all his posts).
You would absolutely love baiting him. I've never seen Internet ranting quite like it.
It's almost (almost) worth finding a forum he does post on just for the sport ;)

As for the others... I like it here as generally its quite a nice atmosphere. But seloc can be (at times) quite exasperating.

You should try it - you might like it ;)
