In or Out...?
Re: In or Out...?
I think you're lucky to be concerned about pensions!! Have you seen the standard pension options offered by employers in the last 15 years? Not worth talking about....

Well, I'm hoping they can't send any more stuff out to India. Eastern Europe has been done and proven to be more hassle than it's worth. .

Oh no, the U.K. Is going to be fun in this sector. Over the last 5 years it's just pure regulation with bugger all real innovation. Nearly all the regulation has come from Europe. So give it a year or so and we can start doing some really valuable things to reduce costs of running, etc.doodlebug wrote:Sure they'll need work, just not in the UK.....Shinobi675 wrote:Ha ha ha jobs for life!mikep99 wrote:Yippee, more banking IT systems will hopefully need fettling with... very selfish I know but....
Though I am still a bit in shock. But all the turmoil at the moment is people making a killing on the currency market. They've used this to as a point in time to focus on. I would guarantee there are a few billionaire currency traders made off the back of this. It needs time to settle down before the damage can be assessed.

I'm in banking in IT. Couldn't disagree more. Regulation is not a UK phenomenon, or a European one. I expect regulators globally to turn the screw.Shinobi675 wrote:Oh no, the U.K. Is going to be fun in this sector. Over the last 5 years it's just pure regulation with bugger all real innovation. Yer that's true, but the European directives are the ones that force our hand. The international ones are for our competition and choice.doodlebug wrote:I'm in banking in IT. Couldn't disagree more. Sorry disagree, I've seen first hand what our regulators ask. If you think coming out of the EU will change that you're deluded.Shinobi675 wrote:Yer that's true, but the European directives are the ones that force our hand. Re: In or Out...?
Perhaps not in London but up North it's survival of the fittest... if people don't earn enough, demand goes down, prices go down etc... this won't change my standard of living...
Re: In or Out...?
I think that's short sighted in the extreme, time will tell.
Re: In or Out...?
You can't really be surprised. With no real political input of any value to base their decisions (it was all lies and popularity contests), the British were offered a chance to very publicly, in front of the whole world, stick their fingers up to Germany and the rest of Europe. Add in to the mix that it was in the middle of a European football tournament where the only thing really standing between England winning the tournament is France, Germany, Italy or Spain (excluding our home nations of course) and im not surprised we said feck you EU. And the only real argument to stay in was that we'd be fooked without the EU? That is only going to make the British more determined to leave.
Re: In or Out...?
Very much so, I agree... I'm not going to live forever though and I have reasons to make sure everything is ok for the foreseeable....
Re: In or Out...?
A shame we like our German cars though, they've just become more expensive.

Yer to be fair our regulator needs to stop being made up of idealistic university graduates first!doodlebug wrote:

I think coming out of the EU will change it, I can't see us feeling effects for 5 years or so. The global crisis has caused a large amount of global regulation, but that's manageable. the European side of it is normally the half arsed rush to get something down before it's actually been truly thought out.
