Re: RE: E46 M3 question
I had a US spec one 2003.5 (even crappier brakes then the Euro) and it was great. Kept outside in -20/-30 Canadian winter and started on the first try in the morning. Certain batches of cars from 2001 methinks had a defect in the engine that made them go Kaboom! However that should have been fixed by a recall. If you can, get the later version with the CS package (CSL brakes, alloys and steering rack.) It beat the RS4 in EVO.JohnRet. wrote:I might be thinking of buying one of these. Anyone had experience?
The sound for me was awsome, like nothing else on the road. Just loved it.

RM3D was a lightened version of the std E36 Evo engine. This was replaced on failre by an E36 Evo engine with modified ECU.
At -20/-30 the can may start, but fancy trying a hill start fully laden please?

It's a good thing there isn't a spotters forum for M3s, we'd never get any work done.
Did you know that were 14 times as many E46 M3s produced as B5 RS4s?
Personally I'd have the new GT-R; faster, better and more exclusive.

I agree with the "like nothing else on the road" thankfully, I would have said exactly the same (well apart for using the word awful instead).deaf guy wrote:The sound for me was awsome, like nothing else on the road.
Well bugger me, it must be the best car in the world then.EVO is God wrote:It beat the RS4 in EVO.

BMW must have made a fortune... Oh aye they did !
Me likes GT-R but at 65???? (is it?) K in the UK they can go F. UK
A conversation with a mate last night got me thinking.. Audi seem to be building all their stuff from the VWAudiSkodaSeat parts bin now. Their 'new' models will cost fek all.... Do BMW carry accross loads of bits, but if they do its generally only in the BMW range?
I hate the BMW image, but like the cars!

I also think that the bulk of the B5 RS4s went to Switzerland. Like a third. I see a lot of B5s around.GardinerG wrote:It's a good thing there isn't a spotters forum for M3s, we'd never get any work done.

As for the GTR... I would certainly take it over the new M3. No contest. Especially since the GTR comes all equipped. Spec the M3 to GTR level and it will be just as expensive if not more.
