Whats the fastest you have been ?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Whats the fastest you have been ?
Did an indicated 141 in my Cavvy Gsi 2000, when I was 21.
Have had much faster cars since then, but never been any faster.

Been up to about 165 on a deserted road in my ST205 Celica GT4, someone pulled onto the motorway from a sliproad a loooooooong way down the road... but I reached it very quickly, put into perspective how quickly I was going and as someone mentioned, even 100mph feels positively pedestrian after that, pretty scary thought really.

Well, I guess that, according to the "speed kills" propaganda, you should be dead!PHILWARNER wrote:... we were travelling at 1440 (mach 2.2) WOW!!

RE: Re: What
280kph - today in an M5 on the Autobahn (no, really - on the road out of Nürnberg actually)
Very stable and the brakes are very effective too...!
The scary bit was doing about 210kph on a windy road - not as planted as our 4WDs, but coped well, although the gear change in sport mode feels like the gearbox is about to drop out - horrible feeling and noise!

RE: Re: What
Just nudged 200mph (indicated) in my old 550 Maranello....... then promptly thought what if I have a blow out.
Good fun though, after my heart rate had settled back down.

I know what you mean, I used to find high speed on a bike much easier than in a car, had an indicated 175 (Kwacker ZX9R) on a Spanish motorway a few years ago, after about 120 you appear to be in a bubble of air, all the noise falls away behind and everything smoothes out, there isn't that sense of 'mass' and intertia you get with a car.s4woody wrote:155 on my honda fireblade..very stable felt like i wasnt moving and gave me a real sense of trying to get off and see if i could run along side..i quickly slowed dwn and had a rethink about bikes..now sold..
Best of all was a year or so before that, speed was not higher but we (group of 3) did not fall below an indicated 160 for 15 mins, again in Spain, this time on a T1000S Suzuki (or the Widowmaker as the press called it, after it's unfortunate tendancy to shake it's head and spit you off, never had a problem with it myself though) , the Police caught us up in at a fuel stop, gave us a bit of a lecture about speed, but then insisted on a wheelie from all of us before we left

Bikes all gone now, it all got a little crazy

In the car only 165 GPS, a month ago on way to European GP at Ring, was going to try flat out, but stuff kept popping out into lane, and brakes started to protest, after 3 high speed uses.

RE: Whats the fastest you have been
can't beat Concorde for outright speed, but I did get a ride in a Tornado F3 and had 750 knots (about 860 mph) on the 'speedo' at a height of about 50 feet over the sea.
Now that certainly felt fast

So there we were travelling at 14 miles per minute with a visual horizon of about 3 or 4 miles (15 seconds ahead) and all of a sudden a fishing boat appears directly in front......... sh*t too late and you've just dropped a 'boom' on some poor chap. I wasnt the driver but Ive felt pretty guilty ever since
much more pedestrian 250km/h (155mph) in the S4 on the A3 in Deutschland

I tried that in a Ka courtesy car with a full load (i.e. 5 guys) and it just fell short of 120.lukeaharper wrote:Ive had 120mph out of a Ford KA!
