For some, it makes sense to keep the finance going, with £15k down, on a standard RS 6 with no discount bar the £6k contribution, you only effectively end up paying less than £400 interest, yes, four hundred - when borrowing £70/80k. The £70/80 odd grand may be better off invested elsewhere. I don't know your specifics, but it could be worth a thought. Finance isn't as taboo as some think, and does offer some extra security, too.Japseroony wrote:Includes the £3k finance contribution but will pay that off on the day of purchase![]()

I agree. I'd prefer to have my cash in my pocket, puts more risk with the lender.

Yep, it happened with BMW or Mercedes, X5/ML values just sunk when the recession hit, some cars were worth £7-10k less than expected at three years, owners could just hand them back and walk away without having to take the hit, for £400ish to borrow that amount, over that time, I'd keep it going personally.

Watch out for the hater's who think financing a car is lower than the low and think of themselves as superior beings for paying for their cars in cash !

I recall reading that Q7 was the most repossessed vehicle at one point during recession.Mr V10 wrote:Yep, it happened with BMW or Mercedes, X5/ML values just sunk when the recession hit, some cars were worth £7-10k less than expected at three years, owners could just hand them back and walk away without having to take the hit, for £400ish to borrow that amount, over that time, I'd keep it going personally.
I guess it depends what type of finance you take out. I've never financed a vehicle in my life and know jack about finance! The scenario you mention above would only be true in the case of something like a PCP with a set time frame (and mileage) where the figures works around a pre determined future trade in value?
