i Use the Road Angel Professional which includes the laser detector - works very well.
Sadly they have stopped doing this model as they have brought out a new one: Road Angel Gem Camera Detector
Down side is that the new one doesnt have the inbuilt laser detector, but does have the auto updates and mobile updates built in.

Re: GPS Speed Camera Detector
Have you thought about the Pogo Alert plus ?
I've had one for over a year. Excellent display and the current offer comes with a laser extension lead. (no point having the detector on the dash as the police tend to point their guns at the number plate). Must admit, I've never gotten around to fitting the extension lead.
Apparently there's a radar detector module due out, too. However, Pogo has been saying that forever.
Alert database is updated via Mac or Windows.
V Good.
Ps.... only downside is that it can take a while to lock-on to the satellites.

Re: GPS Speed Camera Detector
I have been using snooper/road angels for years, and what I have found is the laser detector is useless as it if it detects a laser you have already been got. The only way to be sure about not getting caught by a man in the van is to have a laser jammer which usually comes in the form of a 'parking sensor' or 'garage door opener'. These are however illegal when used for jamming speed lasers and you will probably get in more trouble than just taking the points. Snooper have 'risk zones' on their Aura GPS camera database, which identify areas which speed vans use on a regular basis. I have used many different camera detectors and find snooper to be the best so am currently using http://shop.snooperdirect.com/product540186.html which is good as it comes with free lifetime updates (until end of july). I have mine hardwired and mounted on a http://www.brodit.com/brodit.html?pn=home I find this to be the best way.........

Re: GPS Speed Camera Detector
That looks good vestax, how long does the battery last in the Sapphire? Have you compared this with the Snooper MySpeed Aura? It's more expensive so wondered if it's worth the extra. It says the MySpeed gives you the speed limit of the road you are driving which is a very useful feature considering how ambiguous speed limits are these days. It looks a lot more compact as well.
Sprint Blue B7 RS4 gone but not forgotten...
Re: GPS Speed Camera Detector
I don't know how long the battery lasts as I always have it hardwired, don't want to have any unsightly cigarette lighter chargers, and don't have to worry about it running out of battery etc. Haven't tried the Myspeed aura, to be honest Im usually breaking the speed limit so it doesn't matter what it is!

To update the AURA speed camera database on your unit you will need a PC with either Windows ME, Win2K, XP,Vista or Win7 and have internet access. Please select the software version required in the options box below I use a MAC thats why i chose the road angel professional connected it is permanatley connected to the database via a mobile phone sim card and instantly updates when a new location is added. To use any detector efficiently that needs to be connected to a computer you would have to update it before every journey you take, where as the road angel is constantly connected and updating.
Re: GPS Speed Camera Detector
That is correct, you cannot update Snooper on a Mac. I too use an iMac, so I have to update at my fathers house. I only update once a month, and find this to be fine. But if you feel you need to update every time you take a new journey then you may well be better off with one that is permanently connected as blackphantom suggests!
