The brakes on the M5 are rubbish sadly!!
Agreed, as a rule they don't stand up that well to track use

A car with worse brakes than an Audi?

Got to say I am surprised at the M5 comments given the rave reviews it was initially getting and that is poor fuel economy. Another one to cross off the RS4 replacement list.

Glad you chose the RS5 (not being bias) but it looks a lot better than the BM by far.

The RS5 is growing on me.

Getting shorter by the day. It was on a like for like basis;

C6 RS6
RS5 (not appreciably better)
TT-RS (too small)
RS3 (no bigger but 3x the cost of mine)
R8 V10 (just out of price range and not practical)
R35 GTR (not practical enough)
GranTurismo (more expensive to run and less practical and lack of local dealer)
Quattroporte GTS (more expensive to run and lack of local dealer)
C/CLS/E63 (great in the dry, not in the wet or snow and not that much better performance vs/cost to replace)
V8 M5 (from 535dboy's experience and the price gap no way)
XFR (HUGE depreciation, expensive to change)
Subaru Legacy B-Spec (poor intertrior build quality, yes I am a snob)
Focus RS (3 door only, impractical)
AMV8 / DB9 (impractical)
CTS-V (that much for LHD only?)
Any Porsche is impractical or fugly

C6 RS6 it is then of a s/c. :bigblink:

Surely the B8 S4 avant in the right spec, 3 years old is the perfect replacement in every way except a proper RS bodykit ?

Yet the press often cristicise Audi brakes for being poor. RS4 brakes are good when they work agreed.

Again for me it is not a progression on from what I have and to put in another 20K to get exactly the same performance for the sake of a newer car doesn't make sense for me anymore. I think I am past that phase in my car owning life. Likewise I suspect for the new RS4.

i recon a 3 yr old example with the right spec is <30k

if you go S-Tronic you've got a car which is faster than the B7 and with a million miles better gear box ... light years ahead tech with the Tech Pack High and much improve interior ... SuperSport seats are better than buckets as they dont wear

let alone before you get into tuning it

you can also put the RS 5 grill straight in, optics and 20" rotors and you've got one hellova vehicle

Sounds like the M5 brakes are all show and no go then. I'm with PG, it will be a C6 RS6 for me eventually, seems pointless having all that power in the M5 when you can't use it. My 335d was similair, quattro is just awesome for getting the power down even in the soaking wet, the B8 S4 is an interesting propespect too.

I considered one before buying this but then though nahhh, I want an RS. I hear Revo are getting really good results from the B8 S4, they come as a manual too don't they?

manual yes

but the S-tronic is where its at

in a straight drag in a manual B8 vs. a B7 it would be evens .... with an s-tronic the S4 will wipe the floor, and thats before Launch Control !
