Ok need to wind my neck back in now and enjoy my S4 for a year or so.

Still looks like the RS4 will be next though. Or maybe a B7 Diesel and a toy. Hmmm

Thanks for your input lads

RS3 Saloon
RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 600bhp

Heard a lot about these torque monsters - almost a match for the M's. Youd be lucky to get one for £25k most are 30k+.

I am not looking to buy until May / June ish time next year so prob around 25k then.

Still wont really know about reliability as most have low miles at the moment. On paper they look really good.

Looking at the BM 535 Diesel
You'll regret ditching Quattro on a typical wet Scottish morning. I borrowed a 320d for a few days - couldn't put the power down without the TC interferring all the time - and that was in the dry!

It's a bit drier here in the east than the west Nige but its the winters we gotta worry about this far north. Alot of beemers just become like beached whales then.

The though of losing Quattro was what convinced me not to buy an M5 I had test driven - that and the desciption of the handling as 'adequate' in bad conditions.

I remembered the comedy value of watching rear drive cars in heavy snow..

I know what you are saying and I must admit I love my 4 wheel drive. I also remember the fun I had in cars such as my 2.8 Capri and my 2WD Cossie.

I was looking at the Audi 3.0tdi quattro just not enough power though :?

I looked at the A4 3.0tdi quattro as well, with chipping in mind - just didn't seem special enough.

Ended up going with the B5 RS4 - under £25k from a dealer with 61k on the clock - the day before I had ruled out a 54 plate S4 Avant at £27k (low spec).

I had been looking with a higher budget with an RS6 in mind, but this had another advantage - we could keep the S3 instead of the Clio :D

RS6

Paul,

I wouldn't rule out an RS6 - in a year's time, I would expect the earlier high mileage models to be going for that (£25k).

I can second that... Just took the parents out for a meal, down the A'roads gave it a bit of spirited driving and my old man could'nt believe it, especially the accelleration (and the Road Angel display), he loved the noise. Of course I got a note of disapproval from my Mum... Some things never change no matter how old you are!
