nail on the head IMO

I also believe many many people voted Leave in pure ignorance of what they were actually voting for and the impact of it
I think some of the regret is probably due to the over reaction from the Remain supporters regarding the downfall of the uk economy due to the decision. I knew there'd be some 'end of the world is nigh' being chanted but not to the degree of the stories I woke up to yesterday morning.

So, the dust appears to be settling and as far as I can tell, this is going to be the result:

- We will have to agree to the same free borders as before unless we want to kill the banking sector which accounts for a significant part of our GDP.

- Immigration from outside of the EU won't change in any significant way. It was never anything to do with the EU.

- Industry will still have to adhere to the same EU regulations to be able to export but now will probably be slapped with import tarrifs to the EU.

- The interest rate will very soon go down to zero (or less) but mortgages will be much harder to get, probably leading to a slump in house prices.

- Most of the world now thinks we are a bit fascist.

But on the plus side, we now have a bag of magic beans.

Meh, that's a long way down the line. A50LT hasn't been triggered and no one wants to fire it, the referendum has no legal basis, it's just an opinion poll. Hamface is dead, the blonde goofball won't want to pull the trigger on A50LT and will lose all face, the gloating beer-swilling bigot is a political hand-grenade that's been back-stabbed out of proceedings.
If only there were a group of MPs ready to form a party that had the balls to say no to the referendum, not trigger A50LT and have report with the everyman this destroying the previous political landscape.

Britain does look a bit silly right now. No harm in actually planting those magic beans. There's no hurry to invoke A50TL regards of how much pressure the EU places on the UK. There may never be an exit. It's all getting very tasty.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I really, really want you to be right. I'm afraid that no-one will have the balls to do it. Almost no-one has even called for it other than an MP or 2. I'm happy for the government to be reformed and the political landscape to be re-sculptured, but leaving the EU is shooting ourselves in the foot.

Interesting, definitely. I guess it's like watching the Titanic sink. Kinda depends on whether you are on deck or in a life-boat whether you enjoy the show or not.

Of the only two people that have the testicular fortitude or equivalent stupidity to press on with A50LT, one resigned and said he'd leave it up to the new PM (great stitch up by the way, Boris was left stamping on a flaming paper bag of <beep>) and the other has been stabbed up and excluded from the Brexit committee. I told you sensibilities would start to prevail.
So the EU can't force the UK to invoke and no one in the UK wants to fire the shot (except madmen and they've been kept well clear). So a sensible group may emerge, the problem is, the group may end up having the High Sparrow as it's leader. Not ideal.

I still think greed and money will sort this thing out. Anyone remember the Bush Gore recount limbo? That could've gone on a long while if some very large wheels weren't greased.
No matter where you go, there you are.

In the future you won't have jobs, you'll have opportunities.

/EDIT sorry, I was drinking rosé in the sun, now I'm drinking cider in the rain...

That's actually quite a good metaphor for the referendum...
