Glasgow Audi - SHOCKING !!

Post by otterolly » Thu Mar 29, 2018 7:54 am

Wanted to share my recent experience with Glasgow Audi and their 1st class ...... NOT ..... customer service, hopefully it won’t happen to anyone else.

So I have been looking for an RS3 sportback for a couple of months trying to find the right spec, already had the colour I wanted in mind (silver). Spotted one that fulfilled 90% of my spec requirements the day it came on Audi.co.uk so called about it straight away. Ended up leaving a £1000 deposit. I was told they needed to prep it and refurb the diamond cut wheels which would take approx 2 weeks. So had a tentative collection date awaiting the wheels return. All good..... or so I thought

The time for the supposed collection date was drawing closer so rang to check on progress only to be told that the car had been sold ..... with my £1000 deposit still in their bank !!

I proceeded to ring head of business to give him my thoughts about the branch etc etc. They told me the car was already in the hands of the new owner so nothing could be done !

It seems that even with double the required Audi deposit to secure a car they will still sell it.

Anyway rant over hope none of you guys get the same treatment.....have to start looking again ........

That's pretty poor. Check whether you paid a deposit or a part payment. Presumably they gave you a receipt.

Did you pay on your credit card?

Complain to Audi UK.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

It was a deposit, paid over the phone on credit card

Already rang Audi UK, they said the procedure is that the head of business at the branch decides how to deal with the responsible individual. Didn't want to know really

Your credit card may give you some section 75 protection. Worth checking.

Faaaaaaaaaack! I would have hit the roof!

Traveled a long way down to Dorset with my dad to source his current Audi - specifically because it was the perfect well specced six month old car that we had been keeping an eye out for a long time. He was paying the bill not me, and knowing he couldn't collect the car for three weeks due to going away on holiday, he put around 7k deposit it on for this exact reason! I definitely wasn't expecting him to do that - he always waits paying his bills and council tax until the exact date they are due!

Hang on, have I misunderstood..... they are not seriously now refusing to refund your deposit? Or are they saying they have no record of you paying in the first place? :bash:

I don't even bother with them now. Recently found a deal online for a Q3 Black Edition for the missus with a dealer in Exeter. Emailed Glasgow Audi, explained the deal and that I wanted to support my local dealer. If they could match it, I'd go with them. No response for 5 days at which point I get an email with a quote 10% a month higher. Explained that due to the lack of response, I'd already gone ahead with Exeter and that they were too dear anyway. Didn't even get an acknowledgment.

2 weeks later I started shopping for RS5 deals. Got a cracker on a new car from Tamworth Audi. Didn't even bother getting in touch with Glasgow. Traveled down, did an overnight and drove the car back up the road.

Glasgow is one of the biggest Audi centres in Europe. They're too big to fail basically and don't give a <beep> about their customers. The transition from Lomond to Lookers hasn't made a blind bit of difference either.

they arent that big that a wee visit to the small claims court wont hurt their reputation...anyone reading this would be a mug to deal with them and line their pockets

The move to Lookers is the worst thing that happened to the Lomond group. they were bad as Lomond, but at least the sales guys had an opportunity to support their customers. I've bought a lot of cars from Stevie Corbett at Stirling audi, good friend now...but he cant do anything now to get me in to cars (short of run-out models...) I've found Perth and Aberdeen to be the best in Scotland recently. Or...Do as I did, and take your business across the road to Porsche...

Yep, you wont get a good discount, but you also wont get a residual that's toilet after 2 years...
