Not seen it mentioned elsewhere yet. Bad news for the combustion end of the brand in my opinion.

It's been on the cards for a while. It doesn't really make any sense for Audi and Porsche to compete against each other - if the yearly saving can be put to good use elsewhere following the emissions scandal, it has to be done. Audi have had a stay of execution since Porsche returned in 2014. and its been rumoured pretty much every year since 2011 or 2012 when Porsche announced it planned to return

Agreed, it's been coming. That said the car this year is brand new, it's evolutionary for LMP1. I thought they'd run it another year. Alas dieselgate has caught up.
