interior open/close boot button (RS6 C7)

Post by RSVI » Tue Aug 30, 2016 3:41 pm

Anyone done, or able to do?
Run a cable from interior button to boot button on drivers door, that enables the boot to be closed from the driver's seat?

Looking at the button, it looks the same as what's used for the windows (albeit with a single switch, unlike a two way switch window switch).
I'm sure it can't be that hard a job for someone in the game, although a little over my head if I'm being honest.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure this is about the C7? The window switch is nothing like the bolt switch.

Well bugger me, you are right. I didn't believe you still, had to go and check.

However, is your goal to close the boot from the drivers seat? If so you can do that with VCDS, no need for another switch. You can do it from the remote too. Although it won't close the boot from the drivers switch when the ignition is off, but a short press of the key fob will close it, or turn ignition on then press door switch.

If I'm understanding right, reading between the lines, you're saying...

The standard boot opening switch on the driver's door (after programing with a Vag Com) can close the boot, but only if the ignition is on?
and/or
You can program to make the remote (key fob) close with a 'short press' of the (middle) button?

Correct. Not difficult, I can dig out the instructions if you want.

And you get beeping like when a lorry reverses in case someone has their head in the boot when you remotely close it.

Perfect, instructions would be great if it's not too much bother, thanks.

It looks like it's long and a lot of stuff, but it really isn't, just a few things to confirms
(Should be already set though) then a couple of changes. Quote from an older post:

So for the C7 this is what I did:

Close electric boot lid from key
[Select]
[46 - Cent Conv]
[Coding - 07]
Click on byte 2, bit 2
Tick Comfort operation: Remote control active
[Do It!]

[Select]
[4D - Trunk Elec]
[Security Access - 16]
Input 12345
[Adaption - 10]
Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing
Change to ACTIVE
[Do It!]

However, both of these functions were already in this state when I went in there so no changes actually made at this stage.

What actually made the difference was checking that both tap and touch are not activated at the same time:

6D – Trunk electronics
Security access – 16 = 12345
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key-Tap function for closing) from not active to active
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key-Touch function for closing) from active to not active
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch-Tap function for closing) from not active to active
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch-Touch function for closing) from active to not active

This resulted in:
remote opening – long press - touch
remote closing – short press - tap
door closing – short press – tap

Touch = long press is set for opening to prevent accidentally opening the hatch.

However, I notcied that if the engine is on (maybe even ignition) the keyfob will not start the boot to open. If part open, pressing the remote will stop it opening and another press will close it, or a long press will make it carry on opening for as long as you press the button (until it reaches the top position). I guess this is a safety feature to stop you long pressing the button in your pocket while driving and opening the boot (not sure if it would open anyway, even if you hit the switch, I imagine it is locked out whilst moving over a certain speed).
You also get the lorry reversing type beeps when closing the boot remotely.

It works for facelift, I think the security code for the module is the same for pre-facelift (not sure which version you've got).
