Titanium finish alloys paint code needed

Post by stevo55 » Sat May 14, 2016 9:27 am

My RS6 is going in to get the chrome bits wrapped and the alloys powder coated next week-the paint code I have for true alloys is PQK-is that correct or is that the alloy itself? I got it from the 2009 RS6 brochure I downloaded from here. Looking for the titanium gunmetal grey look.

Don't forget that the titanium paint needs a satin lacquer.

It does? The body Shop said they'll be powder coating the alloy-should I mention a satin lacquer as well? And er, what does it do by the way?

I'm guessing the power coating will be a satin finish. Lacquer is what goes on top of the paint to protect is and give it a sheen, but I don't think they lacquer powder coats.

I believe you get powder coat 'lacquer' finishes that will be applied after the colour powder coat. So still specify a satin finish to your chosen company.

There is some misinformation in that thread. Also from my experience both OEM painted and powder coated finishes chip - that's what stones do.

Here is the process described by a company which I've utilised in the past: http://www.wheelworksuk.co.uk/process.php

What are your thoughts on the annealing process softening the wheels?
