S3 stolen (not mine)

Post by asifg » Tue Oct 27, 2015 4:02 pm

Just got this email from the local neighbourhood Police.

I know cars get stolen all the time, but I'm surprised about the time of day. Maybe it's the darker evenings that have made the crooks more bold and this happened even before the clocks went back. Makes me wary of leaving mine out in the afternoon!

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after burglars stole a motor vehicle from a driveway in Milton Keynes.

At around 5.50pm on Monday (19/10), offenders entered a house in Southwold Crescent, Broughton, removed a set of keys and stole a black Audi S3 DV63 TDX car from the driveway. Investigating officer, Det Con Chris Oakman, based at Milton Keynes Local CID, is keen to hear from any witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously close to the property, or who saw the car being driven off. He said: “Anyone who knows anything about this burglary can call me on the Thames Valley Police non-emergency Enquiry Centre number, 101. “Alternatively, if you do not want to talk to police, you can instead contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”

With the clocks going back one hour on Sunday (25/10), and the darker nights drawing in, Det Con Oakman is keen to remind residents of the importance of locking doors and windows to help ensure your property is secure.

He said: “There are basic crime prevention steps that can be taken to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of burglary.

“Ensure your alarm is fully activated before you walk away, and consider keeping car keys away from any windows and doors to prevent them from being 'fished' through letterboxes, or seen from outside.”
