Sanity check please

Post by Fatneck73 » Tue Jul 29, 2014 9:33 pm

I test drove a 997 Turbo tiptronic today and wasn't impressed.

Gear changed seemed slow and tbh, it didn't feel that quick. To be fair, I didn't drive it to see how fast it was but did put my foot down at one point and felt underwhelmed.

Have I missed something or just been spoilt with my C6 (694bhp / 928t)?

Gen 1 or 2? Turbo or turbo S? Pretty sure all 997s are PDK, that's a way quicker change than C6 being double clutch.

I've driven a 991 Turbo S and it's comfortably the fastest thing I've ever driven. Blistering in any gear at any time. Things go backwards very quickly.

My error, there was a Tiptronic. Yeah, has to be PDK.

Don't think it was pdk - was a 2007 model.

Have a go in a 997.2 Turbo S with PDK, pretty sure that'll alter your impression.

Still 500 brake, although the old school tiptronic box possibly softens the punch compared with a manual. You have indeed been spoilt with your 700 horsepower V10....

Took a 991 c4s cab around the porsche experience at Silverstone in the rain ......that really did go round corners and stick like sh×t.pdk was a dream....but coasting was a bit strange. The 991 911 is such a complete car in any spec.
