Help - should I get a Clio??

I'm wondering if I could pick your brains.

The RS4 is in getting a mid-life refresh and it's made me think about the suitability of my second car. It's a three pot diesel Ibiza, needs no looking after and costs peanuts to run. But I hate every minute I spend in it!!!

It looks like I could get a nice little Renaultsport 200 with recaros and cup chasis for around 10k. Has anyone got any experience of running one of these?

Here's what it has to do:
- sit on the street most of the time (the RS4 gets off-street perks);
- motor me to and from work two days a week to the site with the tiny parking spaces;
- do the odd dash about town when I know the V8 won't get up to temp;
- make me want to drive it!

One day it might make a one way trip to Ireland and be my 'irish car' if I start spending more time there. So a few extra comforts like cruise would be essential.

The Silverstones look nice. Failing that, a blue one with cup chasis, recaros, cruise and climate. I'd be keeping it standard. Never got the bug for adding aftermarket stuff to my cars (I'm boring!).

What do you reckon?

Have a drive of a clio, they're really good fun cars and will make your RS feel big and heavy.
Not got any experience of running one, but you're looking at pennies to run in comparison to an RS audi and you could at least have a bit of fun on the way to work rather than in a Seat diesel
Also worth trying out a few Cooper S mini derivatives, as the JC cars are good fun too

I run a Clio as a works bitch ............sadly it's just a 1.2 dymonique but I will say its a little go kart I love it as its cheap to maintain does 48 mpg (mines petrol) and has never let me down during the 18 mths I have been using her and believe me it gets ragged on daily basis I would love to own a Clio sport if I got the chance

DK, yes, the 60mpg is great in theory but it doesn't get used that way. I was on the motorway long enough to see 60 I think I'd slit my wrists!

A test drive can't hurt

Might sound weird but back in 2010 had a test drive booked for a Clio. I cancelled after driving the RS4. The Clio didn't stand a chance.
