First golf to hit £40k i reckon !!
To warrant that price though it'll have to be a limited run of say 4000 cars, If they do that its gonna hold its price pretty well.
Sad thing is though it appears to be manual only ??? OMG no DSG why ???
Gone but not forgotten boohoo !!!

Going to be the trademark blue, surely? Not sure about the 'yellow' though.

£40k is a good shout, as Merc has done it with the A45 and lots of people are buying that...

first? the MKVI R to my spec was 43k and i missed a fair bit of the expensive stuff, which is why they sold almost none of them and the few that they did sell where normally dealer demos with 10k off

If it happens will be a very limited run car and with that power and carbon body panels is going to be 50k+ I would not be suprised if they said 60k after all its the ultimate golf with M3 performance and far far rarer, the A1 quattro was 41k after all with 33% less power and a much smaller body. Most would be bought by speculators and shoved in boxes as well.

it has been since gen 2, and gen IV has at least 10% to the rear and can adjust power front to back in about 0.25 of a second, a bit faster on gen V

it works better than the vast majority of the quattro systems especially with torque vectoring, including the new RS6 (which will happily spin the inside front wheel in the wet on turning), the only ones i have driven that work better are the RS4 with sports diff and the R8, and the R8 because the default position is to spin the rears on pulling away :D

Not doubting you Dave at all, but I am surprised. I thought a big reason for moving to this sort of differential was so the car would drive the front wheels only when not being pushed hard, therefore waste less energy to the drivetrain and increase the mpg. Bang goes my assumption!

there is a dyno run of an RS3 somewhere with pretty much perfect 25% power to each wheel, it probably explains why I knocked out my rears in 18k miles lol

the A45 AMG uses haldex extremely efficiently

My RS3 would happily spin the fronts, as a four wheel drive car it was pretty pony.

a couple of things you need to do to improve this

first ditch the sh1t conti tyres for MPSS's the difference is unreal, this will also cure tram-lining and remove the 2-3 inch of centre slop / dead zone on the steering, as well as improving grip and turn in

second reduce the pressure by about 10%, turn in and washout are also greatly improved

but most important is to turn on the e-diff by engaging ESP sport mode, this vastly improves front end traction and is instantly noticeable, sections of road that trigger the ESP to reign the car in will no longer do so, why this is disabled by default on the 3 baffles me, its on all the time on the TTRS :audibash:

the brakes can get a bit smelly thou if your in fun mode with it on ;)
