ImageThis was a Silverstone yesterday and did look very impressive but even the Audi chap said it was early days with the paint finish. A nightmare for finger marks when the bodywork is hot , leaves greasy looking streaks so good job that it was a cold and wet day.

I think the novelty of owning one would wear off pretty quick since I actually enjoy polishing my car!

Yeah, I agree
On a nice warm day, I find waxing and polishing quite therapeutic

What I find irksome is that they ask 6k for a paint finish that is as practical as a kick in the balls. And they're quite happy to tell you this!

I'm a bit biased (I do it for work) but these matt finishes above look bad in comparison to a properly dipped car! Plus it protects the bodywork a bit, plus it's 1/20th the price and if you scratch a bit (hopefully the fitter wrote down the weights of 'your' mix of dip) just rip off that panel's rubber coating then re-apply.

My 2 cents only...... :)

The Fonz in USA did this example. Grey dip, mixed with pearlizer and black pigment as the pearl lightens the colour a little.

Hmm, Dip Wrapping... would have thought Shoppinit to be all over this!!

Am intrigued by the finishes you can potentially get with the additives, plus relatively easy to swap & change... Hmm......

What sort of money we talking for a dip ? I take it it's matt effect only ?

Depends on the size of car. Let's say a b7/b8 sized car. That would be £349.

Matt and Satin effects only for dipping. They do put a gloss over the dip but it looks to me like a rubbish paint job on darker colours. I see someone do white with the gloss over it. That looked good to me :)

Excuse my ignorance, but as it's a layer of rubber ( as I understand it), does it effect parking sensors and things like that? Or is the coat of rubber paint so thin it's not a problem?

Thx

It is quite thick but I've not had any parking sensor issues thus far :)
