Do I feel a petition coming on ?
At present there is no minimum standard for road surfaces - whereas motorways and trunk roads are the responsibility of the DoT it is local councils that determine their own criteria for when to make repairs to local roads (and reporting defects tends to make them take a little more notice). Here in Somerset for example they have a 40mm threshold for deciding a hole is deep enough to fill. Now, 40mm may not sound like much but when the entire road surface is festooned in broken Tarmac that suffers this dempth of fracture it gets akin to driving over a washboard. Some of my local back roads are now so bad they are impassable to much except 4x4s and tractors. Yet because they carry small traffic volumes they are always at the back of the queue for fixing.
Doesn't the government HAVE to listen to petitions with 100,000 or more signatures ?
Has this been done already, should one be started ?

Road surfaces are horrific atm. As above, I need a Sticker I saw on a car at Acecafe saying "I'm not drunk, I'm avoiding potholes"......

My old-school B6 Avant with the weighty V8 hanging out the front and 83,000 mile old suspension is certainly hard. 17" winters don't seem to improve things despite more sidewall and more tread. I'm increasingly thinking 18s would suit a B8 S4 better than 19s.

Keep moaning, wouldn't want to cause a fuss - we are British after all.

Maybe we could offer to pay more road tax to help pay for the roads - £1000 for the RS4 I say ;)
