B7 RS4: Another one bites the dust

Dear All

Im a new member and sorry to be the bearer of yet more bad news for our favourite RS4s, but im sad to say that outside my front door a week ago my passenger window was smashed and the seats, gearing stick etc was taken along with my RS caliper covers (really low!). These scum need to be lined up and shot, utter w***kers! Im totally gutted and i know there are many others that have been through this. Its going to be written off but to be honest there is no other car i want to drive, so i have a few Qs for you knowledgeable folk:

1. How should i accept as a buy back figure from the insurance company?
2. Has anyone actually repaired their RS4 fully- can you give me a price estimate?
3. Do S-line audi seats or any other brand of seat work with the plugs in the RS4?

All i can say is, this is happened 3 times in the last week according to police so protect your RS4s, theyre becoming an endangered species!

Does anyone know if bucket seats have any individual or traceable Audi references or markings on them anywhere?

Seen there are increasingly more appearing on Flea bay etc which 'bought them off my mate who had an A3' is the history. Bet 50% are stolen...

Im in Putney, South West London- seems alot of it has been happening around these parts.

Funnily those "from an A3 seats' on ebay are 99% mine!! I even recognise a few markings....let the police know and they arent that interested- rubbish really.

Once i get an estimate ill post it up here for others in my position to follow.

For those that have intact RS4s i think we need the top 5 security measures up here ASAP:.....

Are you serious? Your seats are on eBay and the police aren't that bothered? That is outrageous! They have an opertunity to catch these scumbags that are writting cars off and they dont do anything? SW london is a hotspot for these seat thefts, I've lost count of the number I've read about from that area, probably due to this one gang!

Top measures I reckon:
Aftermarket alarm
Security film on glass
glued / welded / security head seat bolts

If they still manage to nick them then there's probably not much else you can do other than sleeping in your car.

if you were certain they were yours i would have won the auction at all costs then when collecting would have rounded up a load of mates to accompany you and well i,m sure you could think of suitable punishment. i,m not looking forward to insurance renewal time. hope you get your car back to how you want it..

I am looking to re-invest in Alpha dot - used to use in on my motorbikes, its like a micro DNA signature that can be put on multiple surfaces multiple times. Used to be an annual sub of about £20 from memory, and if a set of buckets is worth enough to write a car off, and in turn fetch thousands as resale even a bit of marketing on the car will surely act as a deterrent.
A nice scare tactic for the ebay thieves.
